Abstract

Hybrid learning is a growing force in international higher education resulting from market forces, trends towards life long learning and the application of technology. The University of Southern Queensland, Australia, has initiated hybrid courses as a way of meeting the changing educational environment, and learner and institutional needs. Using an undergraduate law course as a hybrid case study, students' overall satisfaction with using learning resources provided solely on CD, were investigated. The main findings indicate that perceived usefulness and compatibility with learning style were two positive contributors towards satisfaction for both on-campus and external students, however for external students' perceived risk to study performance and time taken to print had a negative influence on satisfaction. Also, in the early hybrid transition stage there is a need to support CD only delivery with some print-based learning resources.
