Lord, Anne Mary (AM) (2000) New Horizons. Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, Townsville, Australia.
Perc Tucker Regional Gallery has great pride in again presenting an exhibition of excellence from north Queensland. Anne Lord is an established practitioner, known nationally for her work as a printmaker, painter and installation artist. An accomplished printmaker and painter for many years, her practice has recently embracedinstallation art which draws on her bush origins synthesizing this with her current concern of environmental degradation. This major solo exhibiton provides an opportunity to view recent work and appreciate the diiversity of her practice, as well as extend the audience and promote further afield. Many viewers would be familiar with Lord's photograph in glass brick installation on the Townsville Strand, but would be unaware of her as an award winning printmaker and painter. In 2000, this exhibiotn forms one in a series of solo exhibitons of north Queensland practitioners, exemplifying the gallleries commitment to our geographical location and to supporting, encouraging and developing the artistic excellence that resides here. Frances Thomson Director Perc Tucker Regional Gallery.
The exhibition of work consisted of over 100 pieces. Paintings and wood-engravings made strong references to hand gesture and place.
