Reflections and further research priorities

Abstract

This concluding chapter synthesizes crisis management theory in tourism. A discussion of the New Orleans hurricane disaster (Katrina) later in this chapter adds further lessons that should be considered by crisis planners. The chapter also briefly considers the implications for tourism of a possible avian flu pandemic, as well as discussing the way forward in tourism crisis research.
