Abstract
This artwork aims to encourage reflection about the number of endangered birds in the tropics. In representing these animals in an apparently endless red list, I have attempted to increase concern about their precarious existence.
Research Statement
| Research Background: | The capacity of visual art to communicate concerns about the impact of people on the habitat of other living entities forms the background to this artwork. Information from the Queensland Nature Conservation Act 1992, Nature Conservation (Wildlife) Regulation 2006 has been used to identify endagngered birds in this region. |

| Research Contribution: | The idea that art can be a source of understanding underpins the motivation for this artwork. I have sought to create an image of an endless list of the endagered birds. The art work strives to increase awareness about the number and type of endangered birds. In representing these animals in an apparently endless red list, I have attempted to increase concern about their precarious existence and the treat of extinction. |
| Research Significance: | This work is significant because it has the potential to raise community awareness of the number and type of animals that face the threat of extinction in the tropics.
