Abstract
[Extract]The decarbonylation of chiral [Ru(pp)₂(CO)₂]²⁺ (pp = bidentate polypyridyl ligands) in the presence of excess pp shows stereoretention in the [Ru(pp)₃]²⁺ product, and under the same conditions, its reaction with chiral [Ru(pp')₂(BL)]²⁺ centers (pp and pp' may or may not be identical; BL = bridging ligand) allows synthesis of specific diastereoisomeric forms of the dinuclear species [(pp)₂Ru(BL)Ru(pp')₂]⁴⁺.
