Book review of "Travel medicine guide" by Jacki Hobson, CMPMedica, Auckland, New Zealand

[Extract] Many health professionals will be aware of the major travel health guidelines published by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Travel Health Network and Centre. The Travel Medicine Guide is the fifth edition of New Zealand's national guidelines, which are potentially of interest for those who advise travelers to the Australasian or Oceania regions. This edition of the Travel Medicine Guide is a major update of a regular supplement to MIMS New Ethicals, a major pharmaceutical compendium in New Zealand. It has a table of contents, nine main chapters, an A to Z Vaccination Guide, and a Resources section. There is no foreword, preface, glossary or index. The textbook contains a number of tables. The book is usefully compact and in full color on gloss paper. There are a number of useful lists of "tips" and checklists throughout most of the chapters.
