Abstract

The use of methimazole for the treatment of feline hyperthyroidism is discussed. The article outlines the rationale for compounding methimazole and describes how it may be prepared extemporaneously, including the components, methods of preparation, packaging, storage and labelling. It explains how pharmacists may advise pet carers on the appropriate use of and precautions to be taken when using these compounded products.
