[Extract] Preparation of practice educators (both off-site occupational therapists and on-site non-occupational therapy staff members), placement site and students is the key to successful role emerging placements. This chapter identifies a range of strategies that will prepare students, practice educators and the placement sites and enable students to achieve learning objectives despite the absence of an on-site occupational therapy practice educator. The chapter is based on the experiences of the authors, both university staff, in facilitating such placements and evaluating role emerging placements in Queensland, Australia.
