Abstract

What can teachers do to change the deplorable results of education for Indigenous students? How can you transform a crisis situation into a moment of opportunity? The “Sharing Success” conference brought together over 300 educators from across Australia to do just that – share success stories. Over three days participants told of what worked for them, what worked for students, and some students told their own stories. Keynote speakers told of continued attempts by Indigenous groups to impact government and education systems with varying results. This book brings together just twelve of those presentations. Some are from the policy arena; some are research projects, some are from whole school approaches, while others are success stories from the classroom. This is a must read by anyone involved in Indigenous Education in Australia.
