Abstract
Major Jenkin's fan palm, Livistona jenkinsiana, is currently under threat in northern Thailand from habitat destruction caused by unsustainable agricultural practices. Based on recent field work and other research, we discuss the historical background and the taxonomic delimitation of the species.
