Abstract
In this paper I will present information relating to doctoral research which I have been undertaking for the past three years and which is now very near completion. The topic of my research focuses on the education, training and support needs of foster carers in the Mackay Whitsunday Region of the Queensland Department of Communities which takes in the geographical areas of Mackay, Whitsunday and Bowen, some 90,355 sq klms or 5.2% of the State of Queensland (Dept of Communities, 2004).
