Abstract

An efficient adaptive delay estimation algorithm, based on a quadrature phase detector, suitable for determining the subsample delay between two noisy sinusoids is presented. The algorithm uses the quadrature components of the input signals to produce a bias-free estimate of the signal delay, which is insensitive to variations in the amplitudes and does not require an accurate prior estimate of the frequency.
