Abstract

[Extract] The purpose of this study is to determine which ergometer protocol best predicts the VO2peak of female outrigger canoe paddlers and which VO2 sampling rate should be used. It is hypothesised that the 1000 m time trial will elicit the greatest VO2peak response due to its sport specificity, and that the 15, 20 or 30 s sampling rate would be appropriate for analysing the VO2 data of the upper body exercise involved in outrigger canoe paddling (Myers et al., 1990).
